Getting Started with Pilates
PILATES
If you have never done Pilates and are not sure what to expect or what to do next we are here to help answer your questions. Maybe you are still trying to figure out what Pilates is.  Please see our About Pilates page for more information on what Pilates is.

How to Get Started in group classes:
Start with our Pilates Start Up Package.  It includes 2 private training sessions aimed at getting you both mat and group reformer ready as well as 1 group reformer class and 1 pilates mat class.  This package is also available for semi private training sessions.  Cost is $150 for one person.  $125 per person for semi-private.  Purchase Now.

What is the benefit to the start up package?

The information taught in our training sessions saves you time and money by preventing you from taking classes and not understanding how to properly perform the exercises.  Think of Pilates classes like taking ballet or playing in a basketball game.  You would need to understand the fundamentals of each discipline to expect to see results from them.  Pilates is the same.  Don't be fooled by the classes taught at most health clubs today.  If your class has more than 12 students in it or if your instructor is participating in your class you are not taking a Pilates mat class.

How often should you do Pilates?
At least twice a week to see results.  Joseph Pilates had a saying; "after 10 sessions  you feel different, after 20 sessions you look different and after 30 sessions you have a new body."  Give Pilates time and it will change your body.  There is no debate on that statement.  If you are doing Pilates less than twice a week your results are prolonged and often discouragement settles in and students discontinue their practice with the assumption that Pilates is not having and impact on their bodies.  You have to commit and you have to be consistent.
We recommend that you do a Pilates mat class once a week and a group reformer class once a week for a total body transformation.  If  you able to attend more than twice a week then you decide based on your preferences and schedule availability which type of class you would then like to attend.

How to get started with private training:
Private training works best for those that have decided they prefer one on one training, have had a recent physical therapy release or have any physical limitations or sport specific training needs.
Once you have made the decision to work privately with a trainer you can either call the studio to set up an appointment or use our online scheduling system to book it yourself.

How to book classes/appointments:
We have an online scheduling system with a link located in the main navigation menu.  From here you will create an account that allows you to book all of your class reservations as well as training appointments.  You can also use this system to make purchases and cancel appointments and reservations if necessary.  Please note that we require reservations for all classes.  We minimize the number of students permitted into all of our classes in order to maintain a hands on teaching environment.  Your instructors use the class reservation roster to plan and design your classes so that you are always enjoying a customized class.

Canceling class reservations/training appointments:
This can either be done through the online system or by phone.  We do not accept email cancellations.  Please note that we strongly enforce our 24 hour training session cancellation policies.  We respectfully request that you cancel any class reservations that you will be unable to attend.  There are no class reservation cancellation penalties.  We do however enforce a "No Show" class reservation penalty.  We permit one no show after which there is an $8 pilates mat based class penalty and a $20 pilates equipment based class penalty.
